ORGANISATION FEAR

As leaders, are we mindful of the subtle Fear  existing in organisations ?

What are some of the effects of Organisation Fear?

  • The short term use of Fear can deliver quick results but has been increasingly abused by people in power
  • Fear focuses on self preservation than the need for meaningful contributions
  • Watch out on that fear from top not cascading downward throughout the organisation
  • Fear is the major reason why conflict is avoided so universally around the world. It is the leading cause of corporate politics, stalemates, rivalry, suppression, manipulation and withholding.

How do you deal with it?

  • The most effective strategies to deal with fear are HONESTY, OPENNESS & CANDOR
  • Where leadership is open and honest, the sources of fear are shared. Joint ownership of problems exists across the board, as does a shared commitment to seek resolution. Shared sense that ‘we are all in this together’ generates cohesion rather than division and blame

A self diagnosis in organisation will actually help to counter the above subtle behaviour to manage
work place relationships.

One response to “ORGANISATION FEAR”

  1. Usha Devi says:

So true about Organisation Fear and its effects on the Organisation as a whole. Fear can kill the productivity and creativity in an organisation leading to its downfall. The leadership must be open to accepting this and tackle this by introducing a very conducive atmosphere for all employees to interact and contribute freely without any coercion or fear.
